The choice for those in search of fresh seafood in San Miguel is simple, go to El Campanario. Located on Canal Street, this traditional San Miguel restaurant has been in business for over 15 years. Excellent service and fresh seafood, all in an elegant setting in what was once a beautiful colonial house in downtown San Miguel. El Campanario also has a rooftop patio with a stunning view of Las Monjas, the second largest church in San Miguel.
As is no surprise, the menu specializes in seafood, fresh fish this good is hard to come by in a place so far away from the coast, however, El Campanario manages to have excellent choices of Red Snapper, Trout, Lobster, Giant Shrimp, Prawn and Frog Legs. All of these are prepared exquisitely in a variety of styles, from lime juice and garlic to a spicy salsa that will leave your eyes watering.
La Capilla also offer bar service, where Margaritas are a favorite among tourists, who like to enjoy a meal and drinks under the stars with a great view of some of San Miguel's architectural marvels. Although el campanario is a bit expensive relative to other Mexican restaurants, you will find that El Campanario is an excellent investment that will make you want to come back.
